Part-Time About Us The Winnebago County Tribune is the trusted local newspaper serving Forest City, Lake Mills, Buffalo Center and communities throughout Winnebago County. We are committed to telling the stories that matter and keeping our communities informed. We're looking for a community-minded Part-Time Local News Writer to help cover the people, events and local government that make Winnebago County unique. Responsibilities Cover city councils, school boards, county supervisors and other public meetings. Attend community events, festivals and other local activities. Write engaging, accurate news stories for both print and digital publication. Take photos at community events, local government meetings and other newsworthy happenings. Interview local residents, community leaders and elected officials. Meet deadlines while producing timely, accurate local news coverage. Qualifications Must live in Winnebago County, Iowa. Strong communication and writing skills. Comfortable talking with people and asking questions. Organized and able to work independently. Reliable transportation to attend meetings and events. Journalism or newspaper experience is a plus, but not required. We are happy to train the right person.
