Job Description
Freelance sports writer wanted at The Union newspaper Do you like to watch sports? Are you familiar with the fundamentals of many different sports? Are you a good writer with the ability to work under the pressure of a deadline? If so, The Union newspaper out of Grass Valley, California, is searching for a freelance sports writer. Assignments could cover the range of local high school sports and their various teams as they compete through their fall, winter, and spring seasons. Summers could include coverage of local little league, softball, disc golf and even action sports such as hiking, biking, climbing and river rafting. This would be a great entry level opportunity for a college student or a young writer maybe just out of high school looking to up their experience or portfolio. Previous experience in sports reporting would be preferred but not required. The position pays $50 per article. Candidates will be subject to a Live Scan.
