Essential Elements:
Print Primary Function Manages the total instructional program for eligible handicapped students assigned to the classroom. Responsible to Building Principal or Designee. Assigned Responsibilities Assess all assigned students utilizing the Student Progress Record and other instruments as appropriate to individual student needs. Develop and implement an appropriate individual educational program for each assigned student. Develop and utilize specific behavioral objectives which pinpoint desired student outcomes. Utilize instructional methods and materials which are appropriate for each stated behavioral objective. Utilize methods for collecting and maintaining data relating to each behavioral objective which assures that proper instructional decisions will be made. Maintain consistent communication with District Special Education staff to assure updated knowledge of guidelines and program direction and to assure continuity of the district-wide program. Manage a classroom organizational system which allows for the systematic use of volunteers to meet the unique needs of the individual program. Assure that students are served in the least restrictive educational environment during their school day by carefully monitoring progress in various school settings to assure that skills are generalizing from one environment to another. Maintain cooperative relationship with appropriate state and local agencies to assure compliance with regulations and efficient communication of information. Additional Responsibilities Minimum Qualifications Certification Preference will be given to applicants with a Severely Handicapped Learner Endorsement. Demonstrated ability to Communicate effectively with parents, volunteers, other staff members, and other professionals. Individualize instructional and related services for severely handicapped students. Generate student progress data to make effective instructional decisions. Additional Qualification Minimum Term of Employment Teacher Contract. Salary Level Placement on Teacher Salary Schedule. Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
