Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Care Staff member, providing compassionate and attentive support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and residents in assisted living or long-term care settings. This role is vital in promoting independence, safety, and quality of life for those we serve. Working on the 2nd and 3rd shifts at our Saint Matthews location, you will be an essential part of creating a nurturing environment where residents feel valued and cared for. Your energetic approach and commitment to excellence will help make a positive difference every day! Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Provide personal care and companionship to promote emotional well-being and social engagement. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report any concerns promptly. Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care strategies, ensuring a safe and calming environment. Implement behavior management techniques to support residents with behavioral challenges or developmental disabilities. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and assist residents during meal times to promote independence. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas, laundry, and general sanitation tasks. Document daily activities, incidents, and resident progress thoroughly to ensure clear communication among team members. Support transportation needs by driving residents to appointments or community outings when required. Use proper safety procedures during transfers and mobility assistance, including the use of Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices. Collaborate with team members, social workers, healthcare professionals, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Experience Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of caregiving practices for seniors or individuals with disabilities; experience in Alzheimer's or dementia care is a plus. Familiarity with vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic first aid procedures is essential. Proven ability to work effectively with individuals requiring long-term care or behavioral support in group home settings or personal care homes. Valid driver's license and safe driving record are preferred for transportation duties. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate attitude toward residents' needs; excellent communication skills are vital for success in this role.
