Join the team at Achievement Centers for Children and help create unforgettable experiences for adults with disabilities at Camp Cheerful. Nestled on 52 beautiful acres within the Cleveland Metroparks, Camp Cheerful provides campers with a traditional summer camp experience filled with hiking, arts and crafts, sports, music, campfires, nature activities, games, swimming, and more. As a Direct Support Camp Counselor, you will play a hands on role in creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment where campers can thrive. This is more than a summer job. It is an opportunity to build leadership skills, gain direct care experience, make lifelong memories, and positively impact the lives of others. What You'll Do Support and supervise adult campers with disabilities throughout daily camp activities Assist campers with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, and hygiene support Build positive relationships and create an inclusive camp environment Participate in recreational activities, evening programming, and overnight supervision Ensure camper safety while encouraging participation, independence, and confidence Work collaboratively with camp leadership and fellow counselors What We're Looking For Must be at least 18 years old Positive attitude, patience, energy, and enthusiasm Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Willingness to provide hands on support and personal care assistance Previous camp experience or experience supporting individuals with disabilities is helpful, but not required Students and individuals interested in education, psychology, social work, healthcare, recreation, or human services are encouraged to apply Compensation & Schedule $500 per week $500 Sign On Bonus $250 paid after completing 4 weeks of employment $250 paid upon successful completion of the camp season Overnight residential schedule: Sunday at 5:00 PM through Friday at 12:00 PM Training & Certifications Included All required training and certifications are provided at no cost, including: CPR First Aid AED Certification Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training About Our Campers Camp Cheerful serves individuals with a wide range of disabilities, including: Developmental disabilities Physical disabilities Cognitive disabilities Neurological disabilities Why Join Camp Cheerful?
