The Director of Finance supervises and directs the financial activities of the hotel including AP, AR, credit and collections, payroll, cash management, internal controls, auditing, general ledger, financial statements, taxes, and budgeting. The role safeguards the assets and prepares all financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Qualified candidate must be able to implement and monitor internal controls, be familiar with all aspects of accounting department (night audit, accounts receivable/payable, general cashier and payroll), prepare budgets and forecasts, must be computer literate and have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Also serves as a financial advisor of the Hotel Management team and Ownership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for hotel operations. Monitor cash flow, operating expenses, labor costs, and revenue performance. Maintain compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company accounting policies. Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure proper documentation and controls are maintained. Supervise and mentor accounting team members, providing leadership, training, and performance management. Partner with General Managers and department leaders to analyze financial results and improve operational efficiencies. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions. Oversee hotel revenue accounting including room revenue, food & beverage, events, and ancillary revenue streams. Ensure compliance with ownership and management company reporting requirements. Assist with capital expenditure tracking and fixed asset management. Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems and financial processes. Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports for senior leadership. Preparation of work papers supporting the annual tax return. Coordinate the preparation of annual tax return and audits with outside CPA firm responding to all inquiries in a timely manner.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA designation preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality or hotel industry. Prior leadership or management experience required. Strong knowledge of hotel accounting practices, financial reporting, and budgeting. Experience with hotel management/accounting systems such as M3, Sage, Oracle, Yardi, or similar platforms preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
