Job Description
Overview We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Human Resource to lead our organization's human resources strategy, oversee policies, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and compliance with labor laws, acting as a key link between management and staff to align HR initiatives with overall business goals and foster a positive culture. They will lead the HR department, handles strategic workforce planning, talent development and ensures the company attracts, retain and support a high-performing workforce. Job Description The Director of Human Resources will oversee all HR functions, including but are not limited to, developing and implementing HR strategies, managing recruitment and onboarding, administering compensation and benefits, ensuring compliance with labor laws and managing worker's compensation claims. Key responsibilities include handling employee relations, disciplinary action, performance review management, training and development, new employee orientation and fostering a positive work environment. The Director of Human Resources will act as a liaison between employees and management, advising on HR issues and helping resolve workplace conflicts. Essential Job Duties
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention and develops and implements HR strategies that support organizational goals, growth and profitability.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers all human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management, career development and succession planning.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implements new hire orientation on a monthly basis, and manages the employee recognition programs.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS).
- Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for staff.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Leads employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Participates in the Workers' Compensation Injury process as needed.
- Analyzes HR metrics to make informed decisions.
Payroll Responsibilities:
Reviewing discrepancies in timesheets or hours Assist in gathering the data to calculate commissions Deal with complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to the Director of Accounting Confirm everything is up-to-date/reviewed/approved before payroll is processed by the Director of Accounting Performs other duties as assigned. - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required;
- At least five years of human resource management experience required.
SHRM-CP, PHR
(HRCI) Preferred Education and Experience- Master's degree preferred
SHRM-SCP, SPHR
(HRCI) highly preferred Physical Demands- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs. at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
