Responsible for managing all field operations and coordinating the procurement and scheduled use of resources to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget goals, safety guidelines, and quality standards. Promote the growth and development of field staff and assist them in carrying out their responsibilities as needed. Understand the needs of the clients and provide the appropriate response to any issues that may arise with exceptional customer service by building and maintaining a rapport to ensure understanding of all contractual obligations and prevent and solve any problems that arise in the field.Duties and responsibilities:
Manage and schedule labor, equipment, material, and subcontractors to accomplish production goals and schedules within established budgets and minimize waste. Ensure tasks on the short (filler) list are completed in a timely manner. Ensure materials, equipment, and all necessary items are available and ready for each job including special order items and subcontractors. Proactively identify potential problems with production and find resolutions that minimize damage/risk or possibly create unforeseen opportunity for gain. Obtain utility locates on needed properties 48 hours prior to start date. Updated as needed. Initiate and maintain communication with client to schedule pre-initiation site visits, estimated start dates, dates of subcontractor visits, or any other time someone will be on their property or their project will be delayed. Respond to customer complaints appropriately to achieve excellent customer satisfaction. Support sales and marketing initiatives with solid production knowledge and service, and identify and execute change orders, fixes, and punch list items in a timely manner. Provide most recent plans and/or documents to field staff at the beginning of each day. Provide instruction to ensure Crew Leader and Crew Members are prepared for the job. Visit job sites on a regular basis to observe organization of work and identify and resolve training issues and take necessary actions to ensure quality standards are being met. Inspect every completed job to ensure the quality meets client and company standards. Ensure safe completion of tasks to avoid workplace injuries as well as investigate any accident or safety violation, prepare appropriate reports, and take action to correct and prevent future occurrences. Define and implement solutions to recurring accidents or most common hazards. Overall human resource management of field staff including: hiring, firing, training, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual, the department, and the company. Maintain adequate staff to meet all install and maintenance needs. Create and implement a plan for individual improvement for each team member. Conduct regular, timely performance reviews of field staff and take appropriate actions including recognition, promotion, coaching, and reprimands. Maintain a positive work environment while positively enforcing policies and procedures. Model and mentor continuous personal growth in all areas: character, leadership, communication, and education in new technology, industry standards, and methods. Lead and participate in continuing education of safety, skills, and industry technology. Identify, train, and develop Crew Leaders. Train Crew Leaders to develop Crew Members. Supervise employees, keep attendance records, enforce proper uniform and safety equipment use, and approve time off requests. Attend leadership meetings and schedule and/or conduct meetings when needed. Provide feedback to leadership team and inform them of needs and requests including but not limited to personnel, training, machinery, and equipment. Report any jobs deviating from budgets of time, schedule, cost or any other factor to leadership team and owner immediately so appropriate adjustments can be made to maximize end results. All other duties as assigned.Must possess the ability to:
Be a self-starter and be on time every day for work and all appointments. Understand basic hardscape and softscape materials and processes to install items. Have and maintain a neat and professional personal appearance. Communicate clearly and articulately verbally and in writing. Drive for long periods of time to different job sites. Identify the most common plants, grass, and weeds in this area. Prevent and solve problems in a proactive manner. Adapt and be flexible while maintaining budget and schedule goals. Display confidence in all situations. Maintain professional composure at all times in potentially volatile situations. Inspire top-tier performance in those around you through dedication, hard work, motivation, and correction. Show initiative and go above and beyond for clients and coworkers. Delegate responsibilities and follow-up on their completion. Give, take, and learn from constructive criticism.
