Job Description
Drafter/Designer Midwest Tile & Concrete Services is a family-owned business located in Woodburn, Indiana, northeast of Fort Wayne, Indiana. We produce the highest quality drainage components designed to protect our natural resources and environment. We strive daily to deliver our products in a safe and timely manner to our customers throughout northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Drafter / Designer to join our growing precast concrete team. This position is responsible for creating accurate 2D drawings and production-ready designs for precast concrete projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers and engineers to provide submittal drawings, develop practical design solutions, price projects, and coordinate purchasing for required project materials. The ideal candidate can think critically, identify inconsistencies in plans, and develop practical design solutions that work in real-world applications. Candidates must successfully complete an in-person drafting test during the interview process to demonstrate 2D drafting abilities. Compensation We offer competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, technical skills, and industry background. Responsibilities Provide quotes and estimates for resale products and custom precast structures Interpret civil, structural, and engineering plans Create detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for custom precast concrete products Develop rebar layouts by coordinating with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) or utilizing internal design software based on project requirements Create standard manhole drawings using Titan precast software Prepare customer drawings, production drawings, and revisions as needed Coordinate with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule Ensure drawings meet project standards and civil engineering specifications Create purchase orders for materials and project-related items Communicate with customers throughout the project lifecycle regarding timelines and completion schedules. Skills Five years of experience using AutoCAD or similar drafting software Strong understanding of drafting standards, engineering principles, and technical specifications. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to accurately interpret and visualize how a three-view drawing should be translated into a finished product Good organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Effective collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Must learn Titan Precast Management Software within the first three months of employment Desirable Skills Prior experience in precast concrete, construction or manufacturing Experience with drafting and technical drawing creation
