Two to three years of experience in early childhood education, coordination, or a related administrative role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Early Childhood Coordinator promotes early childhood development and supports families by overseeing screenings, managing educational and community program referrals, and fostering collaborations to ensure seamless service delivery in the local education agencies which service the Scituate, Glocester and Foster-Glocester Region School Departments. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, data management, and coordination with schools and agencies to support children's developmental and educational needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise and train Child Outreach screeners and Early Childhood office staff. Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote early childhood screenings and related programs. Serve as the main point of contact for families, community agencies, and school staff regarding screening opportunities and early childhood services. Attend monthly Rhode Island Department of Education meetings and bi-monthly Northern RI Early Intervention Collaboration meetings. Foster community collaborations to ensure children receive necessary developmental support. Oversee KidsNet database, ensuring accurate data entry and up-to-date records of screenings and referrals. Conduct data analysis to create informed screening goals and monitor program effectiveness. Ensure timelines are met for screenings and Part C (Early Intervention) referrals. Facilitate recruitment and lottery selection of community peers for integrated preschool programs, ensuring compliance with classroom ratios and support for children with IEPs. Coordinate with preschool teachers, principals, and other staff to support effective preschool and Kindergarten registration processes. Facilitate transitions from Part C (Early Intervention) to local school departments, including meetings, observations, referrals, evaluations, and IEP development. Provide follow-up support for children not meeting screening norms, including resource provision and referrals to school departments. Make initial referrals for children not meeting screening norms and attend follow-up meetings. Maintain accurate records of all early childhood program activities and referrals. Carry out other early childhood-related tasks as directed by administration. • Performs related work as required by the Director of Special Education.
