Position Details Posting Summary Position Title Adult Basic Education (ABE) Specialist Division Opportunity And Engagement Department Adult Basic Education Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality instruction to adult English Language Learners to improve their English speaking, listening, reading, writing, digital literacy, and civics skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

: Assess the academic needs of student learners. Schedule, administer, score, and interpret assessment and other tests in career and course planning; assist students with interpretation. Work with students to increase their basic skill development in the English language. Provide instruction and classroom management to student learners. Work with program software, including Zoom. Assist in the recruitment, enrollment and retention of student learners. Work with instructors, agency representatives and others to deliver services and study materials to students. Assist with the development of ELL curriculum. Collect and maintain student data and program records. Use database applications to create and manage files and communicate requested information, maintaining confidentiality. Assist students in person, online, and by telephone. Use excellent communication and human relation skills. Perform other related duties as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and experience in related field. Computer proficiency. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual proficiency. TESOL certification or coursework in English Language Learning. Physical Demands Light physical effort required for office work; may include movement of job-related objects and materials. Ability to operate office machines and other equipment in the performance of duties. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a workstation.
