An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

01/10/2022 Description The College and Career Readiness program seeks instructors to teach adult learners who are building essential skills in math and English. Specific responsibilities include planning, organizing, and developing lessons and units of instruction to help students improve functional and academic proficiency; providing English or math instruction for students in on- or off-campus College and Career Readiness classes; monitoring student growth throughout each instructional session; and keeping necessary class records to document student attendance and progress.
Salary:
Hourly, based on education and experience. 8 - 16 hours per week as scheduled. Start Date; To be determined.
Closing Date:
Open until filled. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year institution is required; a degree in education or a related field is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience is highly preferred. Supplemental Information Official transcripts, including other documentation verifying all reported educational qualifications, are required. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for application purposes. The successful candidate must provide official transcripts at his or her expense within thirty (30) days of being notified of selection.
