An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Description
- FY 2027 Job Description Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by department need.

Basic Skills, Pre-HSE, and HSE Preparation Teaching of HSE/GED/HiSet Preparation:
reading, writing, and mathematics Maintaining and submitting accurate student records (i.e., syllabi, attendance, weekly lesson plans) Motivating students to complete their educational goals beyond a basic education Communicating and working cooperatively with colleagues on matters regarding course offerings, programs, and activities that enhance the development of the Adult Basic Education program Attending professional development opportunities and staff meetings Adhering to the prescribed curriculum and standards Using and developing a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods (including exams) to support the rigorous program. Proficiency in Microsoft & Google Suite Ability to work in and with a diverse population Time management skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience in a Hybrid classroom online/in-person classes Knowledge of educational technology and its use in classroom environments Knowledge of IET/workforce programming Interpret and apply educational data to program standards and benchmarks Knowledge of monitoring student progress using the following online programs: TABE, CASAS, Aztec and WorkKeys student portals. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited College or University Experience teaching Basic through intermediate level math, reading, writing or High School Equivalent testing preparation.
