Job Description

Bilingual GED Instructor/College Success Coach Position Number:
B1242
PD Starting Wage/Salary:
$58,609 - $61,947 plus exceptional benefits. This position is grant funded through June 30, 2027 with no guarantee of employment after that date.

Primary Purpose:
This full-time, 9-month position integrates adult education instruction, academic advising, and student success services for Spanish-speaking adult learners in Adult Basic Skills ( ABS ) and the High School Equivalency Program ( HEP ). The position balances classroom instruction with individualized student support to improve persistence and GED completion by guiding students from enrollment through GED completion and successful transition into college, workforce training, or employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum (45%) Teach12 hours per week of in-person Spanish GED instruction. Teach Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. Develop and maintain standards-based curriculum. Use instructional technology to enhance learning. Assess student progress and maintain instructional records. Create an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment. Student Success Coaching & College Transition (30%) Provide individualized academic advising and success coaching. Develop educational and career plans. Teach the Bridge to College course. Assist students with admissions, FAFSA / ORSA , Oregon Promise, registration, placement, and college navigation. Support transition into college, workforce training, or employment. Case Management, Documentation & Student Support (20%) Maintain accurate student records, case notes, and grant documentation. Monitor attendance, persistence, and completion. Coordinate referrals and interventions. Ensure compliance with FERPA and grant requirements. Program Collaboration & Continuous Improvement (5%) Participate in department meetings and professional development. Collaborate with HEP and ABS staff. Contribute to curriculum improvement. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies. Ability to fluently communicate orally in English. Fluency in English and Spanish. Knowledge of GED content and adult learning principles. Ability to teach all four GED subject areas (math, science, language arts, and social science) in Spanish. Strong advising, coaching, and communication skills. Ability to use instructional technology. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality. Willingness to travel and or teach at various hours and campus locations, as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in education, adult education, human services, counseling, Spanish, or related field.
Experience:
Two years of teaching experience with adult learners, secondary students, or community college students. One year of experience providing advising, mentoring, coaching, or case management. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching GED in Spanish. Experience teaching Bridge to College or College Success. Experience with
HEP , CAMP , TRIO
, or Adult Basic Skills. Experience serving migrant and seasonal farmworker communities. Experience with Canvas, CASAS , or student information systems.
