An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Description

ABLE The Adult Basic Literacy Education Instructors will be responsible for teaching one or more classes as part of the ABLE program offered at Marywood University. This includes assessing students, remote and face-to-face instruction, and planning lessons in alignment with the ABLE curriculum. The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate and retain learners and must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies, students, and administrative staff. The ABLE Instructor is responsible for the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program Director and the ABLE Coordinators. The instructor will teach adult learners in a variety of content areas.
Required Qualifications:
Teaching certification is preferred along with experience teaching secondary learners. Pennsylvania Department of Education Clearances required.
Job Schedule:
5.5 Hrs. week.
