An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Description
- Teach 4 hours per week of ESL classes for adult learners at the DaVinci Center
- Develop lesson plans that support beginner to intermediate English proficiency
- Incorporate real-life functional English (e.g., workplace vocabulary, daily communication, healthcare, transportation)
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain attendance records and provide updates to program staff
- Create a welcoming, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth program operations
- Provide feedback and recommendations to strengthen the ESL program Qualifications
- Experience teaching
ESL/ESOL
to adults required- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or related field preferred
- TESOL, TEFL, or ESL certification strongly preferred
- Strong communication, cultural competency, and patience working with diverse learners
- Ability to develop interactive, student-centered lessons
