About the Role The College of Architecture &Design at RUA is seeking an experienced academic to join the faculty of Architecture at Associate or Full Professor level.

This is a seniorfaculty appointment:

teaching, research/practice, curriculum development, and student supervision form the core of the role for the durationof the appointment. Academic leadership at RUA is organised on a rotational model: senior faculty members (Associate and FullProfessors) serve periodic terms as Programme Director for their programme, during which they receive 80% teaching release time and anadditional academic leadership stipend, before rotating back to a full teaching and research load. Programme Director duty is therefore arecurring service responsibility of the senior faculty role, not a one-off promotion or a separate career track. The successfulcandidate will be appointed concurrently as the founding Programme Director for the MA in Architecture, for an initial term of two yearswith the possibility of renewal. The postholder reports to the College Director in both capacities: as senior faculty, and asProgramme Director for the MA in Architecture during the founding term. Core Faculty Responsibilities(continuing) Design, deliver, and continuously improve studio-based and theory teaching within the MA inArchitecture Ensure teaching approaches, course materials, and assessment methods support approved learning outcomes and academicregulations Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement for the MA in Architecture and related programmes Supervisepostgraduate student research and design projects, and support student progression Undertake and disseminate high-quality researchand/or professional practice, contributing to a strong research culture within the College Mentor junior faculty and contribute toacademic development initiatives within the College Build relationships with design industries, cultural organisations, and externalacademic collaborators Contribute to interdisciplinary, practice-based learning initiatives across the College and University Academic Leadership Responsibilities (as founding Programme Director, initial two-year term) Teaching and Learning Lead academic delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of the MA in Architecture, includingperformance against enrolment, retention, progression, and completion metrics Ensure that appropriate learning, teaching andassessment strategies, curriculum content and organisation are employed for the programme of study and are communicated effectively tostudents. Propose and initiate improvements in the currency and effectiveness of learning, teaching and assessment. Leadacademic delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of the BA in Visual Arts, including performance against enrolment, retention,progression, and completion metrics Represent the programme in interdisciplinary coordination with other Programme Directors andacademic units Recruitment Ensure that the programme has an effective recruitment strategy aligned to College andUniversity level requirements, and to undertake timely and effective recruitment activities as directed by the College Director, includingliaising with the College/University Admissions Office. Ensure staff in the programme receive appropriate training and support inorder to be able to carry out recruitment activities to ensure that annual recruitment achieves target Staff Management With the College Director, be responsible for recruitment of staff into the programme, to manage and appraise their performanceannually and to support staff to become more effective in their research, teaching and learning through personal and professionaldevelopment. Ensure that staff are actively engaged in research activity, supporting knowledge exchange andpartnerships. Support staff in the dissemination of high quality outputs from research and teaching and learning activity. Resource Management Contribute to the College's business planning and provide budget input, including monitoringday-to-day programme expenditure. Working with the administration and facilities teams, ensure efficient and effective use offacilities including workshops, studios, computing labs and libraries. Quality Assurance Lead on all PSRB forprofessional award Ensure appropriate delivery of curriculum to meet PSRB Lead accreditation planning and maintainaudit-ready programme records Lead annual review planning and maintain audit-ready programme records. Ensure the programme'salignment with the College's systems for academic quality and standards assurance Ensure the programme achieves minimum thresholdstandards of student satisfaction. Manage the design and implementation of programme-level policies and procedures, and overseeday-to-day compliance Ensure programme structures, schedules, and delivery requirements are in place each term, coordinating withfaculty and enabling functions Ensure the accuracy, reliability and consistency of any printed or electronically publishedinformation about the programme and its activities intended for the students, staff or public. Ideal Experienceand Skills PhD in Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field or equivalent practicebased experience Appointable as either the Associate Professor or Professor An established teaching record in architectureat higher education level, including studio-based pedagogy An active and evidenced research and/or professional practiceprofile Experience contributing to curriculum development in an academic environment Strong understanding of contemporaryarchitecture and design practice Evidence of student supervision and mentoring Prior experience of academic coordination,quality assurance, or programme leadership is an advantage Excellent communication and organisational skills Internationalacademic and/or professional experience preferred Compensation and Benefits The Universityoffers a competitive, tax-free compensation package in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
