Be the First to Apply Job Description Position Overview East Tennessee State University Department of Music seeks an adjunct instructor of musical theatre voice. The successful candidate will teach weekly applied lessons beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. Candidate should have at least a Master's degree in musical theatre, vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, or related field. Candidate should have a strong performance background in musical theatre and/or commercial vocal styles. Opportunities to work with musical theatre productions may be possible based on qualifications. Responsibilities Teach weekly undergraduate applied lessons in coordination with voice and theatre faculty Develop syllabi, other course materials, and submit course grades in a timely manner Attend and assess vocal juries each semester Attend degree recitals, studio recitals, musical theatre showcases, and festivals as required for teaching Assist with recruiting and departmental needs as appropriate Required Qualifications Earned masters degree in musical theatre, vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, or closely-related field Studio teaching experience Record of professional musical theatre performance Preferred Qualifications Background in vocal pedagogy Commitment to student recruitment and growth/stability of a musical theatre program Experience running a vocal studio Expertise in jazz and/or commercial styles Compensation & Benefits Salary is $900 per credit hour for faculty with a Master's degree, or $1000 per credit hour for faculty with a doctorate degree.
