Role Description The Advanced Ceramics Instructor will lead in-person classes focused on advanced ceramics techniques, including wheel throwing and handbuilding, at our Redondo Beach, CA studio. This part-time, on-site role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, demonstrating complex techniques, and guiding learners in developing their artistic voice and technical proficiency. The instructor will oversee safe and proper use of studio equipment, manage materials, and maintain a clean, organized classroom and shared studio space. Day-to-day tasks include providing constructive feedback and collaborating with studio staff to refine curricula, coordinate schedules, and contribute ideas for workshops and special events. The instructor will help uphold studio policies and foster a respectful, inclusive learning environment for all skill levels. Qualifications Strong technical skills in ceramics and pottery, including experience with advanced forms and surface techniques. Hands-on experience with kilns, including loading, firing schedules, and safety procedures. Proficiency in wheel throwing, with the ability to demonstrate and teach intermediate to advanced techniques. Teaching experience in art or ceramics, with the ability to plan structured lessons and adapt instruction to diverse learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach to working with students and staff. Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized studio environment and follow all safety protocols. Previous experience in community art studios, educational programs, or workshops is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Ceramics, or related field, or equivalent professional experience in ceramics instruction.
