This is a part-time position with availability needed during weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Our Lead Art Instructor will guide engaging art classes and workshops for children of varying ages. The ideal candidate is confident leading a classroom, genuinely enjoys working with children, and can create a welcoming, organized, and positive studio environment.
Responsibilities include:
Lead children's art classes, workshops, camps, and special events Follow provided curriculum while contributing fresh project ideas and creative input Prepare materials and maintain an organized classroom Provide clear, age-appropriate instruction while encouraging creativity and individuality Confidently manage classroom behavior and transitions Adapt projects and instruction to meet the needs of different ages and abilities Communicate warmly and professionally with children, families, and fellow staff members Help with setup, cleanup, and general studio organization Take initiative and confidently solve problems as they arise The ideal candidate: Has an art, education, early childhood, or related creative background Has previous experience teaching or working with children Has strong classroom-management skills Is warm, energetic, patient, and encouraging Is reliable, punctual, and prepared Is inventive, resourceful, and able to think on their feet Can work independently while also collaborating with our studio team Is comfortable taking ownership of the classroom and creating a positive experience for every child This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves both art and children and wants to play a meaningful role in a creative, community-focused studio.
Schedule:
Part-time; weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends
Location:
The Giggling Pig Art Studio, Milford, Connecticut Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
