- Must hold a valid teaching certificate (LX,LQ,LZ)
- Dual Certification preferred
- Highly Qualified Teacher status
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate problem solving skills that address challenges that may arise in the classroom
- Promote creative thinking opportunities for students
- Value a collaborative approach to teaching and learning
- Incorporate the principles of design thinking into planning and teaching
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging, standards-aligned art instruction to students (weekly 60-minute classes)
- Design lessons that build skills over time and highlight creativity, expression, and artistic growth
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all students feel comfortable taking creative risks
- Teach and model proper use and care of art materials and tools
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners
- Integrate elements of art history, culture, and cross-curricular connections when appropriate
- Display student artwork to celebrate creativity and build school pride
- Support school-wide events (e.g., art shows, showcases) that highlight student learning and growth
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student success
- Communicate with families to share student experiences and celebrate progress
- Maintain an organized, welcoming, and well-managed art space
- Plan, organize, and set up the annual Spring Art Show, showcasing student work and creating an inviting experience for families and the school community
- Support additional building needs (e.g., recess supervision) as part of the school team
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives
