Job Description
Albany Area Schools is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Long-Term Substitute Art Teacher to serve students at both Avon Elementary School and Albany Area Middle School. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity, artistic expression, skill development, and an appreciation for the visual arts. This shared position requires travel between the two schools. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging art lessons aligned with Minnesota academic standards and existing curriculum. Provide age-appropriate art instruction to elementary and middle school students. Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, materials, media, and cultural perspectives. Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse abilities, learning styles, and developmental needs. Encourage creativity, self-expression, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the visual arts. Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes participation and respect. Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback on assignments and projects. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, grades, and other required documentation. Communicate professionally with students, families, staff, and administrators. Collaborate with colleagues at Avon Elementary and Albany Area Middle School. Follow district policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment. Requirements Bachelor's degree in elementary education, art education, or a related field. A valid Minnesota teaching license in art education or elementary education. A valid Minnesota driver's license and the ability to travel between Avon Elementary and Albany Area Middle School. Previous teaching experience or experience working in an educational setting is preferred. Knowledge of age-appropriate art techniques, materials, and classroom safety practices. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to develop engaging and interactive lessons for students at different grade levels. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage positively with the school community. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students and both school buildings.
