Qualifications The successful candidate will have at least a bachelor's degree and 3 years of elementary art instruction; a master's degree is preferred. Must be experienced with the developmental needs of 5-10-year-old children. Experience implementing art curriculum through inquiry-based teaching and creative problem-solving is required. Responsibilities The lower school + 4th grade art teacher will be a member of the Lower School faculty and report to the Lower School Head. This position is ideal for the dynamic and knowledgeable teacher who has experience designing and implementing art curriculum. The goal of the K-4 art program is to develop a love of art and to further the growth of art literacy in each student, and to create an atmosphere of acceptance, self-awareness, and self-expression. The teacher will work closely and collaboratively with homeroom teachers and other content area specialists. Teacher responsibilities also include participation in class outings, Winterim, attendance at faculty and department/grade level meetings, and substituting and other lower school support as needed and as the schedule allows. This position is temporary, for short-term leave coverage. Depending on education and professional experience, salary range may be $31,000- $57,000.
