Whizara is looking for a passionate Part-Time ASL 1 Instructor to lead an engaging after-school program for middle school students in San Diego, California. You'll introduce students to the fundamentals of ASL in a fun, supportive environment while helping them develop communication skills, cultural awareness, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for different ways of connecting with others. What You'll Do Lead engaging beginner-level ASL lessons for middle school students Create a safe, welcoming, and positive classroom environment Follow Whizara's provided curriculum and adapt instruction to support student learning Set learning goals, motivate students, and encourage participation Monitor student progress and provide helpful feedback and support Build positive relationships with students, school staff, and parents Share classroom insights and feedback to help improve curriculum and instruction Keep the classroom organized, clean, and ready for learning Communicate with the Whizara team via email and phone as needed Be punctual, dependable, and prepared to lead each class independently What We're Looking For Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or currently pursuing a degree, in Deaf Studies, Special Education, Linguistics, Education, or a related field Strong knowledge of American Sign Language and the ability to teach beginner-level ASL Previous experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or working with K-12 students is preferred Strong communication and classroom management skills Patient, energetic, dependable, and comfortable working with young learners A genuine interest in helping students learn and grow Current undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply!
