At Charla Bilingual Preschool & Daycare, we provide a high quality early childhood education while celebrating and preserving the Spanish language. We offer a boutique childcare experience, serving 12 children per day (20 families total) and seek a team of dedicated educators who are committed to providing excellent care. Qualities we seek in a teammate include the following: Before you apply MUST be fluent in Spanish. We speak Spanish 100% of the day. MUST have at least 3 ECE units in infant/toddler course MUST provide a transcript showing at least 6 ECE units total (12 preferred) to be considered for an interview Our operating hours are 7:30am-4:30pm, and this role may occasionally be asked to work a full day in the event a teammate is absent Care of Children Design and implement age-appropriate curriculum Engage children in age appropriate activities by following written lesson plans and the direction of licensed teachers. Follow daily routines and written policies and procedures to ensure children have adequate opportunities to learn, exercise, play, eat, and rest. Supervise up to 4 infants alone or a class of up to 12 infants with the support of assistants. Ensure their safety by anticipating needs, behaviors, or risks to children and acting proactively to avoid them. Proactively manage and model behavior for children to develop positive relationships and socio-emotional skills Supporting children with personal care and hygiene, including eating, diaper changing, potty training, and restroom breaks. Assist with the preparation of meals and activities Assist with written and electronic record keeping of children's daily activities Care of Learning Space Maintaining a clean and organized learning environment Ensuring that toys, furniture, and equipment are handled with care and returned to their place when not in use Excellent attention to detail and mindfulness of surroundings Cleaning and disinfecting of space and materials Teamwork & Reliability Supervise and coach infant assistant teachers Reliable and punctual Willingness to work as a team and be flexible to small changes in the daily routine in order to support teammates Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training as well as receive feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement Willingness to be coached by supervisor or lead teacher when areas of improvement are identified Willingness and ability to work with urgency to ensure adequate supervision of children and a healthy collegial environment Willingness to share ownership and responsibility of tasks with colleagues Ability to develop healthy, positive relationships with colleagues Communication Fluent in Spanish; native and heritage speakers preferred Responsiveness to work-related emails, calls, and text messages Strong verbal communication with colleagues, especially during the time that children are present State Requirements Ability to understand and follow licensing rules and regulations outlined in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations and by the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) Have obtained (or are pursuing) at least 6 credits or early childhood education courses Must be legally able to work in the United States Must pass a background check and fingerprint clearance Must have immunization records for Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles Must complete a TB test Must complete Mandated Reporter Training Must complete Infant CPR and First Aids Must have a physician complete a Health Screening Report Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics Excellent at multitasking and prioritizing competing needs Demonstrate good judgment as it relates to the safety, well-being and protection of personal rights of children and families Make yourself available for in-person training before or after school hours, as needed Physical ability to carry out duties of the role, which require significant movement throughout the day, lifting and carrying children changing diapers pushing children in wagons/strollers running to child in the event of potential danger meal prep light cleaning sitting, kneeling, or squatting Minimum Education Requirements Assistant Teacher, Associate Teacher, or Teachr Permit preferred At least 1 infant Early Childhood Education course (3 units) with the willingness to take 1 additional course with an emphasis in infants (3 units)
