About Hawaii Tokai International College:

Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) is a junior college accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). Through customized short-term programs, HTIC's International Programs Department offers intensive English and cultural learning experiences for students of various ages and backgrounds.

Position Summary:

HTIC seeks qualified ESL instructors to teach in short-term, customized programs. Appointments are casual, part-time, and vary in length (from a few days to eight weeks). Instruction schedules typically range from 90 minutes to 3 hours per day.

Responsibilities:

Plan and teach ESL classes in areas such as conversation, reading, writing, culture, or English for specific purposes (e.g., business, nursing). Facilitate interactive, task-based learning experiences. Incorporate program objectives into lesson design and assessment. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure program quality. Support a multicultural classroom that respects linguistic and cultural diversity.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics, Education, or related field. ESL teaching experience. Strong English communication skills (oral and written). Knowledge of ESL teaching methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field. Experience teaching international students of different ages and backgrounds. Overseas or cross-cultural teaching/living experience. Familiarity with current TESOL trends and resources.

Compensation & Details Pay Rate:

$38/hour - $42/hour (based on completed educational degree)

Schedule:

Varies; mornings or afternoons depending on program needs.
