The Opportunity:
The Amigos School seeks to hire a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Math Teacher to join our diverse, committed, and passionate community. This individual will be responsible for providing roviding math instruction support to middle school students. The successful Two-Way candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum, based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. The successful candidate will set high expectations for all students and use scaffolding and differentiation to support students in accessing all language and content. They will also have experience working with students in math, providing support and intervention. Students in Two-Way schools receive instruction in Spanish and English. The Math Teacher will teach middle school math in Spanish and provide intervention in Spanish and English. He/She will work collaboratively with his/her cluster members to plan and implement an academically and linguistically engaging curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the needs of the dual language student population.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide rigorous math instruction Identify and assess students and work in collaboration with the school's Math Instructional Coach Match student needs with appropriate interventions and monitor progress Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, other specialists, and administrators Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, school-wide, and district functions Communicate effectively
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Middle School Math Teacher, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including coursework in first and second language acquisition. High levels of native language proficiency in Spanish and English, including listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing. Familiarity and experience with a variety of online platforms. Creativity and passion for dual language and anti-racist teaching. Familiarity with and appreciation of middle school students, their needs, and interests. Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices that include students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Required Massachusetts Certification:
Foreign Language Certification 5-12 (Spanish), Math 5-8, SEI or Two-Way Immersion Endorsement How to
