Job Summary:
Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a driven, dynamic and experienced Spanish teacher to be a part of the school's instructional team. This candidate will bring a passion for implementing and supporting best instructional practices, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative school environment. Only those candidates with a deep passion for the Sizer School mission and ready to teach in and be a part of an exemplary, innovative public middle/high school need apply. Essential Functions (include but are not limited to) Teach Spanish I and II classes with a focus on language fluency and literacy Actively participate in the work of the school, including innovative curriculum development, project-based learning, and assessment Utilize and integrate technology and multimedia modalities to enhance instruction and student learning Communicate proactively and effectively with students, faculty, and parents/guardians Provide frequent, constructive, objective, and prompt feedback to students Promote the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality, coherent, and culturally-proficient instruction Design units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks Demonstrate instructional practices that establish high expectations, and create a safe and effective classroom environment Adapt instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities Act as an advisor to a group of students and shape curriculum and practice to support the whole student Reflect on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and use insights gained to improve practice and student learning Participate in school-wide and subject specific professional development and grade-level team meetings Regular in-person attendance
SIZER SCHOOL
Sizer School is located in Fitchburg, MA, draws from cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts, and is chartered to serve 400 students in grades 7-12. The school's faculty and staff are some of the most dedicated professionals in Massachusetts public schools and do whatever it takes to ensure student achievement. The school is named in honor of Ted Sizer, and we are known for our commitment to the common principles of the Essential School movement. The school boasts small class sizes, a safe and supportive learning environment, and students who outperform their peers from other area public schools. Sizer prides itself on creating a personalized learning plan for each student. Students enter Sizer as early as 7th grade and graduate well prepared for college and for the workforce.
