My World Mandarin Nature School - South Seattle Part-Time | Paid Training | Flexible Schedule About Us My World Mandarin Nature School is a premium, 100% Mandarin-immersion, nature-based program. Children learn Mandarin naturally through relationships, outdoor exploration, sustained play, and real-life experiences. We maintain small groups and strong teacher-to-student ratios. Because excellent educators are central to our program, unusually capable teachers can earn well above typical industry rates. The Role We are hiring Mandarin-speaking teachers for our afterschool and summer camp programs serving children ages 4-12. Teachers engage children through Mandarin conversation and play, facilitate group dynamics, support outdoor exploration, and help children navigate relationships and solve problems. Prior teaching experience is neither required nor preferred. We welcome capable college students, graduate students, career changers, and professionals from other fields who are intellectually curious, emotionally mature, and genuinely interested in children. Our Approach We believe children learn best through meaningful experiences and sustained play—not constant adult direction. Our teachers learn to observe carefully and decide when to engage, when to guide, when to help, and when to step back. We provide paid training through observation, feedback, and discussion of real educational cases. Candidates must be willing to examine familiar assumptions and think deeply about children's behavior. Responsibilities Engage children naturally through Mandarin conversation and play Support or lead a small Mandarin-immersion group Facilitate outdoor exploration and informal activities Help children navigate friendships and conflicts Maintain excellent supervision and safety awareness Support routines, transitions, and organization Participate in paid training and professional discussion Teachers who demonstrate strong judgment and leadership may independently lead a class and pursue additional curriculum or teacher-training work. Strong Candidates Speak fluent, natural Mandarin Genuinely enjoy children Notice group dynamics and think before intervening Are curious about how children think Can receive direct feedback, reflect, and adjust Are dependable, emotionally mature, and safety-conscious Are comfortable working outdoors Want work that requires thought and judgment Teaching credentials and conventional classroom experience are not preferred. Schedule Afterschool Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday:

approximately 1:30-5:00

PM Wednesday:

approximately 12:30-5:30

PM Sunday:

approximately 1:00-5:00

PM Summer Camp Monday-Friday:

approximately 9:30 AM-3:30 PM Extended hours may be available Candidates may work a consistent subset of these days. Compensation $22-$40 per hour Paid training and professional-development time Employee discount Starting pay is determined individually through our interview process. Most developing teachers begin in the lower or middle portion of the range. Higher rates are reserved for people whom we determine can create unusual value through their judgment, reliability, relationships with children, and classroom leadership. Compensation is based on demonstrated value—not credentials or years of conventional teaching experience.
