The primary focus of this position is to help athletes develop the acrobatic and aerial skills used in freestyle Taekwondo, including tumbling, jumping, twisting, body control, and safe landing techniques. Taekwondo coaching experience is not required. Candidates with backgrounds in gymnastics, tumbling, martial arts tricking, parkour, cheerleading, or acrobatics are encouraged to apply. The coach will work closely with our Taekwondo instructors to safely integrate gymnastics and tricking skills into freestyle routines and competition preparation. Responsibilities Coach freestyle team members in tumbling, tricking, and acrobatic movement. Teach skills through safe, step-by-step progressions. Train athletes in body control, balance, flexibility, coordination, jumping, twisting, and landing mechanics. Provide instruction in skills such as aerials, back handsprings, back tucks, layouts, twisting skills, and combinations based on each athlete's ability. Safely spot athletes during skill development. Assess each athlete's current level and create appropriate training progressions. Help athletes improve the height, control, form, and consistency of their skills. Collaborate with Taekwondo coaches to incorporate acrobatic skills into freestyle poomsae routines. Prepare athletes for competitions, demonstrations, and team performances. Monitor athlete progress and provide clear, constructive feedback. Maintain a positive, disciplined, and safety-focused training environment. Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, and coaching staff. Qualifications Experience coaching or participating in one or more of the following: Gymnastics Tumbling Martial arts tricking Parkour or freerunning Cheerleading Acrobatics Ability to teach skills using safe progressions. Strong spotting skills and knowledge of proper landing mechanics. Experience working with children or teenagers. Reliable, energetic, patient, and professional. Strong communication and class-management skills. Ability to adapt instruction to different ages and skill levels. Preferred Qualifications Previous coaching experience. Competitive gymnastics, tumbling, tricking, parkour, cheer, or acrobatics experience. Experience preparing athletes for performances or competitions. Familiarity with strength, flexibility, mobility, and injury-prevention training. Schedule Part-time Weekday evenings and/or weekends About the Position This is a specialized coaching position for athletes who already train in Taekwondo and need additional instruction in gymnastics, tumbling, and tricking. The coach will not be expected to teach traditional Taekwondo classes unless separately qualified and mutually agreed upon. We welcome applicants from gymnastics gyms, cheer programs, parkour facilities, tricking communities, dance or acrobatics programs, and other movement-based sports.
