Youth Sports Coach
Job Description
Position Summary The Boys & Girls Club of Manteca is seeking an energetic, positive, and dependable Youth Sports Coach to lead sports programs for children and teens of varying ages and skill levels. Our coaches are responsible for more than teaching a sport. They serve as mentors and positive role models, helping young people build confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and new skills in an encouraging environment. Experience coaching multiple sports is preferred, particularly basketball, flag football, and volleyball. Coaches must be comfortable working with youth who range from complete beginners to more experienced athletes. Key Responsibilities Coach and lead youth sports practices, camps, clinics, and games. Teach the fundamentals, skills, strategies, and rules of assigned sports. Create practices that are structured, active, engaging, and age-appropriate. Modify instruction for different ages, abilities, and experience levels. Ensure beginners feel welcomed and successful, while continuing to challenge more experienced participants. Model and reinforce teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, accountability, and leadership. Build positive relationships with youth and serve as a trusted mentor and role model. Encourage youth through positive coaching rather than criticism or intimidation. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. Manage groups of youth effectively and address behavior appropriately. Communicate professionally with Club staff, families, and participants. Properly care for sports equipment and maintain safe activity spaces. Support additional sports, camps, clinics, and recreational programming as needed. Qualifications & Skills Experience coaching, playing, or instructing youth sports. Knowledge of the rules and fundamentals of multiple sports. Basketball, flag football, and/or volleyball experience strongly preferred. Previous experience working with, mentoring, teaching, or coaching children or teens. Strong leadership and group-management skills. Ability to explain skills in a way that beginners can understand. Patient and encouraging approach to youth development. Ability to recognize different skill levels and adapt coaching accordingly. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Must demonstrate good judgment and appropriate professional boundaries when working with youth.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 4.0 - 8.0 per weekBenefits:
