Job Description

Overview Aqua Mi is a small organization in Nevada City specializing in children's swim lessons. Our instructors teach with a safety-first, confident-coaching approach. This program follows the American Red Cross guidelines. We meet each swimmer at their current level, prioritizing confidence and water comfort before advancing into structured technique and development. This position is part time (3-10 hours per week) and relatively flexible. Our pool is heated, indoors, and operates year round . We are seeking instructors who can commit to the year round schedule. Duties Lead swim lessons modeled after the American Red Cross program, tailored to different age groups and skill levels Implement age-appropriate teaching methods that promote water safety, swimming techniques, and confidence-building Monitor children closely during lessons to ensure safety and proper behavior management Enforce facility rules and water safety protocols Assist with maintenance and cleaning of pool area, including vacuuming, mopping, and general pool deck upkeep Requirements Must be CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certified 21 years of age or older Previous experience in lifeguarding, sports coaching, teaching, or childcare is highly desirable Strong swimming skills with the ability to demonstrate techniques effectively Experience with behavior management and working with children in educational or recreational settings Enthusiastic attitude, excellent communication, and a passion for teaching children life-saving water safety skills To apply, please contact Amanda Prentice (business owner and main swim instructor) at the email address provided.
