Assistant Track and Field Coach Jumps Coach La Salle High School - 3.7 Pasadena, CA Job Details Part-time From $600 a month 17 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Teamwork Program design First Aid Certification Teaching Full Job Description Position Summary The Jumps Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading training sessions for athletes specializing in jumping events, including long jump, triple jump, and high jump (and sometimes pole vault depending on program structure). The coach focuses on developing athlete technique, strength, conditioning, and competition readiness while promoting safety, sportsmanship, and athlete development. Primary ResponsibilitiesCoaching & Athlete Development Teach and develop proper techniques for jumping events (long jump, triple jump, high jump, and/or pole vault). Design and implement training plans that improve speed, strength, coordination, and explosive power. Provide individual instruction and feedback to athletes. Monitor athlete progress and adjust training accordingly. Prepare athletes for competitions and meets. Practice & Program Planning Plan and lead structured practice sessions. Coordinate event-specific drills, warm-ups, and conditioning programs. Ensure proper use of facilities and equipment. Assist with overall team training plans and collaboration with head coach and staff. Competition Support Coach athletes during meets and competitions. Provide technical feedback and strategy adjustments. Track athlete performance and results. Athlete Safety & Wellbeing Ensure safe training environments and proper equipment use. Teach injury prevention techniques and proper warm-up/cool-down procedures. Monitor athlete health and communicate concerns with medical staff or head coach. Administrative Duties Maintain attendance and performance records. Assist with scheduling, travel coordination, and meet preparation. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and coaching staff. Support recruitment and athlete retention efforts (if applicable). Qualifications Knowledge of jumping event techniques and training methodologies. Prior coaching or competitive experience in track & field jumps preferred. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to motivate and develop athletes of varying skill levels. Current coaching certifications and/or CPR/First Aid certification (may be required). Preferred Skills Experience with strength and conditioning programming. Video analysis and performance tracking knowledge. Understanding of sports psychology and athlete development.
