Job Summary:
The Junior Varsity (JV) Basketball Coach provides leadership, instruction, and mentorship to student-athletes while developing basketball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and character. The coach will plan and lead practices, prepare the team for competition, supervise student-athletes, and collaborate with the athletic department to support the overall basketball program.Season Details:
The season runs from November 23, 2026, to February 11, 2027. Practices are Monday - Thursday from 3:30-5:00 PM. On game days, the start time would be around 1:30 PM. Most PCS games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays; however, we will have some Wednesday games and potentially a Monday game.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and conduct organized, age-appropriate basketball practices focused on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and game preparation. Teach fundamental basketball skills, including shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, defense, footwork, and offensive and defensive concepts. Develop individual players while promoting teamwork and a positive team culture. Coach JV games and provide appropriate in-game instruction and leadership. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, athletic department personnel, and school administration. Monitor student-athlete safety and respond appropriately to injuries or other health and safety concerns. Promote good sportsmanship, integrity, respect, accountability, and appropriate conduct both on and off the court. Support the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes. Assist with tryouts, team selection, player evaluations, and other preseason activities. Perform other duties related to the basketball program as assigned by the Athletic Director or school administration.Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous basketball coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, strategies, and player development.
- Ability to teach and motivate student-athletes with varying levels of experience and ability.
- Strong communication, organization, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletic staff, teachers, administrators, and families.
- CPR/First Aid certification and other required athletic certifications, or willingness to obtain them.

- A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Agrees with the school's statement of faith and the purpose and goals of PCS in providing an integrated Christian education.

Compensation:
The annual compensation for this role is $18.57/hour. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to salary, PCS offers a generous benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision benefit plans for eligible employees. Pasadena Christian School will conduct a background check on all final candidates.Pay:
