Vista High School is a comprehensive high school serving nearly 1,700 students and located approximately six miles from the coast in beautiful North San Diego County. Vista High School has a proud athletic tradition and is committed to providing student-athletes with a positive, competitive, and educational athletic experience.
THE VISTA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL PROGRAM
The Vista High School Boys Basketball program is looking for a leader who will continue to build a positive culture while developing student-athletes both on and off the court. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a program built around accountability, character, academic achievement, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence. The Head Coach will oversee all levels of the boys basketball program and work collaboratively with assistant coaches, school administration, the Athletic Department, student-athletes, and families.
SUPPORT & RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE HEAD BOYS BASKETBALL COACH INCLUDE
Plan, organize, and conduct practices, conditioning, and game preparation for the Boys Basketball program. Provide leadership and direction for the entire Boys Basketball program, including varsity and lower-level teams. Develop student-athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, and skills necessary to compete successfully. Build a positive team culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success. Select, organize, and provide leadership to the coaching staff. Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the Athletic Department. Properly issue, collect, and maintain uniforms, equipment, and other program resources. Follow all Vista Unified School District, CIF San Diego Section, and school policies and procedures. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous basketball coaching experience, with high school varsity or comparable experience preferred. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, player development, practice organization, and game management. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, coaching staff, and school personnel. Ability to establish and maintain a competitive program while maintaining high expectations for academics, behavior, and sportsmanship. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Commitment to developing student-athletes both academically and athletically. Ability and desire to build a program capable of competing successfully in league and CIF San Diego Section competition and playoffs. Must meet all Vista Unified School District and CIF coaching certification and clearance requirements. Come and be part of the W.A.V.E.
