Our goal is to develop confident swimmers and water polo players by building strong fundamentals in a positive, structured, and fun environment.
Our practices are held at:
Whittier High School Rio Hondo College We are currently looking for energetic, dependable coaches to join our SplashBall program, which primarily works with younger athletes between 6 and 12 years old. What Is SplashBall? SplashBall is our introductory swim and water polo program. It is designed to help young athletes become comfortable and confident in the water while developing the swimming skills and fundamentals they will need to progress into competitive water polo. We focus on making practices fun, active, and encouraging while teaching proper technique from the beginning. We are currently hiring coaches for two levels:
Beginner SplashBall Coach Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 6:00-8:00
PM Pay:
$20/hour Our Beginner group works with young athletes who are learning how to swim or are still developing their basic swimming skills.
Coaches will focus on:
Water safety and confidence Proper body position Freestyle technique Kicking technique Breathing and breath control Basic swimming strokes Coordination and swimming fundamentals Helping young athletes become comfortable and confident in the water Patience and the ability to make learning fun and positive are especially important for this group.
Intermediate/Advanced SplashBall Coach Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 6:00-7:30
PM Pay:
$20/hour Our Intermediate/Advanced group is for athletes who are already comfortable in the water and are ready to improve their swimming technique while learning the fundamentals of water polo.
Coaches will work on:
Freestyle technique Backstroke Breaststroke Introductory butterfly Kicking and conditioning Treading water Eggbeater technique Water polo body positioning Ball handling Passing and catching Throwing and shooting Basic water polo skills and game concepts Qualifications We are looking for coaches who: Have a swimming and/or water polo background Enjoy working with children and young athletes Are patient, energetic, positive, and dependable Can demonstrate and explain swimming skills clearly Can create a safe, structured, and fun practice environment Are consistently available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings Have previous swimming, water polo, or youth coaching experience (preferred)
