Immediately Job Description The Head High School Softball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, organization, and administration of the Atlantic softball program. The primary objective is to instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training while fostering character development, academic excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The Head Coach ensures compliance with school, district, and state athletic association regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Player Development & On-Field Leadership Plan, organize, and conduct daily structured practice sessions focused on skill instruction, situational strategies, and physical conditioning. Manage and coach the team during all home and away competitions, including regular season games and postseason tournaments. Formulate a strategic plan for player placement, game lineups, and general team management. Program Administration & Management Mentor assistant coaches to ensure alignment with the overarching goals of the software program. Coordinate practice and game facility schedules with the Athletic Director to prevent venue conflicts. Manage the program budget, follow proper purchase order procedures, and coordinate fundraising initiatives. Maintain an accurate inventory of all uniforms, safety gear, and training equipment. Student Safety & Academic Monitoring Enforce the code of conduct and student-athlete handbook rules at all times, prioritizing character and discipline. Provide supervision in locker rooms, training facilities, dugouts, and during district-approved transportation to away games. Monitor academic progress and behavioral standing of all student-athletes to verify ongoing eligibility. Verify that all student paperwork, medical clearances, parental waivers, and physical exam cards are completed prior to participation. Communication & Community Relations Maintain transparent communication regarding schedules, roster decisions, and team policies with parents, players, and school staff. Participate in league meetings, all-conference selection committees, and rules interpretation seminars. Provide accurate data, stats, and scores to the athletic office and local media outlets post-game. Assist qualified student-athletes in pursuing collegiate athletic and recruitment opportunities. Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
2-4 years of coaching experience at the high school varsity, assistant varsity, or competitive club/collegiate level is highly preferred.
Certifications:
Must possess or be immediately willing to obtain valid Iowa coaching certification.
