Position Overview
The Head Baseball Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the MMCRU High School baseball program. This role emphasizes creating a safe, competitive, and educational environment that fosters student-athlete growth both on and off the field. The coach will serve as a mentor and role model, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, character development, and academic achievement while ensuring compliance with all school, district, and Iowa High School Athletic Association rules and regulations.
Salary
$3,500.00 + applicable experience lanes (per district schedule)
Primary Responsibilities
Provide leadership, organization, and supervision for all aspects of the high school baseball program.
Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, and seasonal training programs aligned with best practices in baseball and student-athlete development.
Teach and develop fundamental baseball skills, including hitting, pitching, fielding, base running, conditioning, and game awareness.
Ensure compliance with all school district policies, conference guidelines, and Iowa High School Athletic Association regulations.
Promote a positive, educationally sound environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, character development, teamwork, and academic success.
Establish and maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents/guardians, assistant coaches, administration, and the Activities Director.
Attend all required rules meetings, clinics, and professional development as mandated by the state and district.
Monitor student-athlete eligibility, attendance, and academic progress in accordance with school policies.
Maintain proper care, inventory, and security of baseball equipment and facilities.
Develop and maintain a strong baseball program culture that encourages commitment, accountability, discipline, and pride in representing MMCRU High School.
Coordinate with the Activities Director regarding scheduling, transportation, facilities, equipment, and other program needs.
Perform other duties as assigned related to coaching.
