This seasonal position is ideal for someone with a strong background in dance, coaching, and team management. The Head Dance Coach will be responsible for developing the dance team's skills, fostering a positive and inclusive environment, and promoting a love for dance among our students. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the dance team, focusing on technique, performance, and teamwork.
  • Organize and conduct regular practice sessions, ensuring that all dancers receive individualized attention and support.
  • Create choreography for performances and competitions, aligning with the team's skill level and goals.
  • Collaborate with school administration and parents to promote the dance program and encourage student participation.
  • Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, coordinating travel for competitions, and overseeing team events.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, dedication, and sportsmanship.
  • Evaluate team members' progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth.
  • Organize and lead team-building activities to strengthen camaraderie among members.
  • Maintain communication with students and their families regarding team expectations, schedules, and events.
  • Ensure compliance with all school and district policies related to extracurricular activities. Requirements
  • Previous experience in dance coaching or instruction, preferably at the high school level.
  • Strong background in various dance styles, with the ability to teach and choreograph.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
  • Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, especially during the competition season.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for mentoring young dancers.
This is an "at will" position in that the employer may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon Board approval and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
