Summary The Middle School Softball Coach at Buckhorn School will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive softball program for student-athletes in grades 6-8. This seasonal position requires a passionate individual who can inspire young athletes, foster teamwork, and promote sportsmanship while enhancing their skills and understanding of the game. The coach will work closely with school administration, parents, and the community to create a positive and engaging environment for all participants. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily practice sessions focused on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy. Develop game plans and strategies for competitions, ensuring all athletes are prepared and informed. Foster a positive team culture that encourages sportsmanship, respect, and inclusivity among players. Monitor and evaluate the performance of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback and support. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding team updates, schedules, and athlete progress. Organize and supervise team events, including games, tournaments, and fundraisers. Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and competitions. Collaborate with school administration to adhere to all district policies and regulations regarding athletics. Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and in good condition for use. Serve as a role model for student-athletes by demonstrating a commitment to academic success and personal development. Requirements Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level, is preferred. Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules of the game. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within the first month of employment. A strong commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and games during the season. Must pass a background check and meet any other requirements set by the school district.
