Job Overview As the Assistant Softball Coach of the Gordon Softball team, you will support the head coach in training student-athletes, organizing practices, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. Your passion for coaching and commitment to a faith-based playing environment will inspire players to reach their full potential while ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all participants. Responsibilities Attend every practice, including a half hour before (set up) and a half hour after (take down). In the Fall, practices are three times a week (until mid-October) for two hours (3:30-5:30). Spring practices will be 2 hours, 5 days a week (6-8am end of January/February, and most likely move to 3-5 in March). Weekend availability required - one Saturday in the Fall and have every weekend open late February/March to early May. Attend Spring Break trip to Florida (March 4-14). Must attend every game and travel with the team. Assist the head coach in planning and executing softball practices, drills, and game strategies that emphasize skill development and teamwork. Support team management by motivating players, encouraging positive behavior, and fostering a respectful team culture. Help supervise athletes during practices, games, and team events to ensure safety and proper conduct. Contribute to the development of training programs that incorporate softball-specific techniques and physical conditioning. Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and organization before and after practices or games. Promote a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols including first aid procedures and AED operation when necessary. Incorporate faith in your everyday life and coaching. rules Excellent communication skills to effectively connect with players, and staff. Experience teaching softball training instruction. Familiarity with first aid procedures, CPR certification, AED operation, and emergency response protocols. Experience working with students in educational or recreational settings to foster growth both physically, spiritually, and socially.
