High School Diploma or equivalent Have or obtain current CPR Certification Have or obtain
MHSAA CAP
training and certification Successful cross country coaching experience preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Promote ideals of the Athletic Department of Vandercook Lake Public Schools Regular communication with the Athletic Director re: practices, competitions, game scores/stats, issues, etc.
Communicate with media personnel re:
game/competition stats for news publications Perform all duties with integrity and professionalism, on and off the course Monitor and maintain the discipline and academic status of student-athletes Create a competitive environment emphasizing positivity, respect, discipline, and academic success and school pride Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with MHSAA and Cascade Conference rules including summer programs Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques by continual growth through attendance at practice and/or clinics Understand the importance of daily practice sessions for the growth of the team, program Perform administrative duties associated with being a coach Assist Varsity coach with youth program and perspective camps and clinics Coordinate fundraising efforts for the cross country program Stay within the cross country athletic budget as proposed by the Athletic Director Actively support the Athletic Department including, but not limited to, participation with Cash Bash (selling tickets, working the event, donating raffle basket). Maintain equipment including bags, uniforms, course markers, and all other cross country equipment Attend all coaches meetings, evaluation meeting, and award celebrations Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES
