Function:

To provide education, guidance, and support though the implementation of the Strengthening Families Program in Bergen and Passaic Counties. The facilitator will work with the families for 7 or 10 weeks with the intent to teach parenting skills to the parents/guardians and life skills to the youth.

Responsibilities:

Uses the Strengthening Families curriculum to teach and facilitate the parent/caregiver and/or children's group, and family group. Prepares for each session, reviewing activities, assembling needed materials, and preparing any visuals to enhance the presentation. Assists with serving dinner Must facilitate a minimum of one program cycle a calendar year Must attend all required trainings and meetings including CPR certification Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience or alumni of the program Must hold a Strengthening Families Facilitators Certificate or attend the three day training of trainers. The certification class is offered virtually during the business day. Ability to work nights and/or weekends Well organized, with excellent verbal communication skills. Knowledge of and ability to facilitate a group. Experience working with parents/caregivers and /or youth. Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural diversity issues and Ability to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and races. Ability to effectively work as a member of a team. Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
