Winter Varsity Girls Wrestling Coach Position Overview:
The Akron Central School District is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-centered individual to serve as the Head Varsity Girls Wrestling Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction for the girls wrestling program while promoting athletic excellence, sportsmanship, academic achievement, teamwork, character development, and the overall well-being of student-athletes.Essential Responsibilities:
Organize, lead, and supervise the varsity girls wrestling program. Plan and conduct safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate practices. Teach wrestling fundamentals, techniques, strategies, conditioning, and proper sportsmanship. Establish a positive team culture built on respect, accountability, discipline, teamwork, and character. Develop student-athletes at all skill levels and provide opportunities for individual growth. Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, transportation, tournaments, and team activities. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administration, athletic department personnel, and coaching staff. Work collaboratively with other wrestling coaches to establish continuity throughout the Monitor student-athlete academic progress and encourage academic success. Maintain and properly care for wrestling equipment, uniforms, and facilities. Ensure compliance with Akron Central School District policies, NYSPHSAA regulations, Section VI rules, and applicable health and safety requirements. Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development, and athletic department activities. Assist with scheduling, tournament participation, team communication, and other program-related responsibilities. Promote the girls wrestling program within the school and community. Serve as a positive role model and representative of Akron Central School District.Qualifications:
Previous wrestling coaching experience preferred. Varsity-level coaching experience preferred. Strong knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with high school student-athletes. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Commitment to student-athlete safety, academic success, and character development. Current required NYS coaching certifications and/or qualifications. Ability to meet all NYSPHSAA, Section VI, and Akron Central School District requirements.Start Date:
