Per Negotiated Salary Schedule Minimum Qualifications:
1) Applicants must meet the requirements of the Commissioners of Education Regulations Section 135.4 governing coaching of interscholastic teams. 2) Applicants must hold a valid certificate in NYS, Coaches' First Aid and CPR/AED as issued by the American National Red Cross, or meet equivalent requirements prior to appointment. 3) It is highly desirable that the applicant have previous coaching and/or playing experience at the high school or college level in the sport he/she desires to coach. 4) A GITA member will be given the first right to acceptance or refusal of these positions. If no unit member qualifies to take any of these vacancies, then the district may go outside the bargaining unit to fill the positions. 5) Previous experience is preferred.

governing coaching personnel: (Section 135.4) August 1982 Persons who hold a valid certificate as a teacher of physical education. Such persons may coach any athletic team for which the chief school officer determines they are qualified. Persons who are certified in areas other than physical education and who have coaching qualification and experience satisfactory to the Board of Education. Persons who hold no teaching certificate, but have coaching qualifications and experience satisfactory to the Board of Education.
