Job Description

Position Overview Cornerstone High School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and character-driven Head Soccer Coach to lead our program. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the soccer program, including instructional training, game-day strategy, student-athlete development, and fostering a competitive culture that aligns with Cornerstone's values of sportsmanship, academic excellence, and personal integrity. Core Duties & Responsibilities Design and execute daily, structured practice plans that focus on skill development, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning. Manage all game-day operations, including strategy, roster management, substitutions, and team conduct. Establish clear team rules, expectations, and culture that promote accountability, discipline, and mutual respect. Oversee the evaluation and selection process during team tryouts. Partner with the Athletic Director to manage the equipment inventory and uniform distribution/collection. Coordinate with the athletic department to ensure compliance with all school, conference, and state high school athletic association rules. Maintain accurate program records, including team statistics, rosters, and medical clearance forms. Actively monitor the academic eligibility and progress of all student-athletes in the program, emphasizing that "student" comes before "athlete." Promote a safe environment by ensuring proper warm-ups, conditioning, and adherence to athletic trainer protocols for injury prevention and concussion safety. Serve as a positive mentor, helping student-athletes develop life skills, leadership qualities, and teamwork. Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with players, parents, assistant coaches, and the athletic administration. Organize and execute program-specific events, including parent meetings, senior night recognitions, and post-season banquets. Represent Cornerstone High School professionally in the media, league meetings, and regional coaching associations.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years of soccer coaching experience (high school, club, or collegiate level preferred).
Certifications:
Must possess or be willing to obtain all state-mandated coaching certifications, including: Valid Pupil Activity Permit (PAP), NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, Concussion in Sports and Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay's Law) training.
Background Check:
Must successfully pass a criminal background check and FBI/BCI fingerprinting.
Availability :
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including afternoon practices, evening games, and possible weekend travel during the season. Preferred Skills Deep tactical knowledge of soccer systems, set pieces, and modern training methodologies. Strong organizational, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal communication skills. A proven track record of building positive relationships with high school student-athletes and their families.
