Full Job Description Who We Are:

The Youth Basketball Coach at the JCC will be responsible for teaching fundamental basketball skills, fostering teamwork, and creating a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for children and teens. Coaches will help players develop athletic abilities, good sportsmanship, and confidence both on and off the court. Desired Qualifications Experience coaching youth basketball preferred. Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and strategy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire children and teens. Ability to work weekends. Passion for youth development, inclusivity, and creating a fun and safe sports environment.

Director of Programming & Recreation Job Responsibilities:
Lead Practices:
Lead age-appropriate practice plans that balance skill development, drills, and fun activities to engage all players.
Skill Development:
Teach and reinforce fundamental basketball skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defense, and game strategy.
Game Preparation:
Prepare players for games by teaching plays, positioning, and teamwork. Provide clear instructions and encouragement during games.
Promote Sportsmanship:
Model and encourage fair play, respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials. Reinforce positive behavior and conflict resolution.
Safety Management:
Ensure the safety of all players by maintaining a safe practice and game environment, monitoring equipment, and following all JCC safety guidelines and policies.
Team Building:
Foster a sense of teamwork, cooperation, and inclusion among players, helping them develop communication and collaboration skills both on and off the court.
Mentorship & Role Modeling:
Serve as a positive role model for children, demonstrating responsibility, integrity, and a passion for the sport.
Professional Development:
Attend all required trainings, staff meetings, and coach development sessions. (These responsibilities are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed.)
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
While performing the above duties, this position routinely requires handling persons and/or objects and moving safely throughout the building. This position may include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. This position requires communicating, either verbally or in writing. This position frequently requires moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position occasionally requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to complete all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
