Stipended / Seasonal (Spring season) Job Summary The High School Swim Team Head Coach is responsible for managing all aspects of the co-ed competitive swimming program. The Head Coach will design training programs for various skill levels, manage meet lineups, and promote a culture of athletic excellence, team unity, and academic accountability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Instruction & Training:
Design and execute daily swim practices, focusing on stroke mechanics, turns, finishes, and cardiovascular conditioning for both novice and elite swimmers.
Meet Management:
Determine event lineups and strategic seeding for all dual meets, invitationals, and league championship events.
Safety & Pool Deck Security:
Serve as the primary safety officer on the pool deck; maintain visual supervision of all swimmers at all times and strictly enforce pool safety protocols.
Roster & Logistics:
Maintain accurate records of athlete times, attendance, and physical clearances; coordinate event entries using specialized swim software (e.g., Meet Manager).
Culture & Mentorship:
Cultivate a supportive environment that accommodates both individual improvement and overall team point-scoring goals.
District Alignment:
Attend mandatory league meetings and ensure full compliance with district policies and CIF swimming bylaws. Required Qualifications Prior competitive swim coaching experience (USA Swimming, high school, or country club level) or collegiate swimming experience. Demonstrated ability to teach four competitive strokes, racing starts, and turns safely. Valid Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certifications. Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC) certification. Ability to pass a criminal background check (Fingerprinting/Live Scan) and TB clearance. Mandated Reporter, Concussion, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest training completions.

$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
