Function:
To carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Head Coach. To instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation to tournaments and special events. I'd like to point out the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adhere to scheduled facilities. Provides documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and sites. Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant. His/her presence at all practices, games, and while traveling provides assistance and guidance to and safeguards for each participant. Directs student managers and statisticians. Determines discipline delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary. Contacts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
Qualifications:
Teaching certificate and experience preferred. Previous coaching experience in assigned sports is desirable. Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport. Has taken a course workshop or has proof of competency in first aid. Has a certificate or completion of a class in CPR.
