The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming, teaching, and child engagement, with the ability to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for students of all ages. This role involves instructing swimming lessons, promoting water safety, and fostering confidence in swimmers through engaging instruction and positive behavior management. Previous experience in lifeguarding, sports coaching, or martial arts is highly valued. The Swim Instructor will contribute to our mission of promoting health, safety, and aquatic skills within our community. Responsibilities Conduct swimming lessons for individuals and groups across various skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers. Develop lesson plans tailored to students' ages, abilities, and learning goals while ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. Monitor water activities to ensure the safety of all participants, responding promptly to emergencies if necessary. Provide clear instruction on swimming techniques, water safety practices, and physical fitness exercises. Engage students with motivating coaching techniques and positive reinforcement to encourage skill development and confidence. Manage classroom behavior effectively, maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment for all learners. Collaborate with other staff members to organize aquatic programs such as swim teams, water aerobics classes, or special events. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and equipment before and after lessons. Skills Lifeguard experience preferred; current certifications are a plus. Strong background in swimming, sports coaching, or martial arts such as Karate or Judo. Experience working with children or students in educational or recreational settings. Knowledge of behavior management techniques to foster positive learning environments. Ability to teach physical education activities like basketball, cheerleading, climbing, or gymnastics is advantageous. Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct diverse age groups effectively. Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching water safety and swimming skills. Familiarity with health club or gym environments is beneficial but not required.
